グリーンハウスターバンでの誕生日会

12月には我が家族では多くの誕生日があります。兄貴ダンが12月2日、母が15日、ありさが19日、甥っ子が20日だ。ありさの父も12月です。この誕生日がお月にクリスマスがあります。今年はババラさん（母: +Barbara Hawkins ）とありさ( +Arisa Hawkins の誕生日を一緒にお祝いするということでダウンタウンクリーブランドに行って外食するという形にしました。

母の家に行ってピックアップして高速道路にのってクリーブランドのダウンダウンに行きました。日曜日の夜だったのでクリーブランドブラウンズの試合が何時間前に終わっていて試合を見に行ってた方々既にダウンタウンから離れていたので簡単に駐車が出来ました。

Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom

The cherry trees donated by the Japanese Association of Northeast Ohio (JANO) are in full bloom. This year is the 100th Anniversary of the gift of cherry trees to the United States from Japan for the mall in Washington D.C. This year the blooming is early. I tweeted last night that I wished one of the news organizations would broadcast something. Little did I know when I made that tweet that Newsnet5 already had!

Yesterday about 15 of us had an impromptu "hanami" which was a lot of fun. Check out the pictures below.

If you have a chance, you'll want to stop by today since I think the inbound rain and storms will knock all the blossoms off the trees.

クリーブランドにアムトラック(電車)があった

この間、エリーが帰って来たと英語でブログしましたが、エリーがどう帰って来たと書かなかったです。実はエリーが電車で帰って来て、昨夜アメリカン大学に電車を使って戻りました。

というのは、エリーが帰って来ると楽しんでいたのであんまり帰って来る方法をあんまり気にしていなかったです。でも、昨夜に駅まで連れていた時に「そうか、電車があったのか」と気がついたのです。僕はクリーブランド生まれ・育ちですが、シェーカーハイツからダウンタウンまで、そしてターミナルタワーから空港までの電車以外に電車があるとあんまり意識したことがありません。いや、あるかと考えさえもしていなかったです。クリーブランド内の電車しかないとずっと思っていました。

駅で電車の写真を取ってみた。朝2時だったし、携帯電話で握ったので写真の品質がちょっと悪いかもしれないけど、雰囲気をつかめると思います。

 

エリーに曰く、この電車に寝室があります。それが必要でしょうね。だって、Washington D.Cまで13時間かかるわけです。

来週末に日本語能力試験を受けるため、チカゴ市に行ってきますが電車で行けるかもしれません。値段次第ですね。

Gardening

This year I'm trying my hand at setting up a vegetable garden. We are trying to start almost everything from seeds, but since we started late, I did breakdown and by some at a store.

We have radish, green beans, tomatoes, chingensai, bitaminsai, onions, green onions and sunflowers. All of these were grown from seeds. We also have store bought plants including corn, green peppers, japanese eggplants, watermelon, a grape vine, strawberries, and pumpkin. We have a big back yard so we tilled two areas for the garden. We were able to fence in one of the gardens, but the other one we just have to hope that the fact that the yard is fenced will keep the bad bunnies out. Unfortunately, I already know that this is a failure. In particular there is a really big ground hog which appears to live under the shed. I am transplanting some mint from the front garden, and may move some our plentiful chives. I'm hoping the chives and mint will help be a natural pesticide. Thinking of getting some marigolds as well, since I was unable to get any to grow from seeds.

I hope to update the photo album as the garden progresses. I'm hoping it'll be successful, even if we did start late. In particular, I'm interested in how the tomatoes do as I started them from seeds and was quite successful. We have about 26 of them. I hope I wasn't too late in starting them...

マーケットシェアを拡大

一昨日、会社の同僚から日経産業新聞に乗った日本おけるECM市場について記事が添付されていた。 市場調査企業がECM市場報告を出した関係で記事が出ている。　記事そのものが主にマイクロソフトの４４％マーケットシェアを中心に書かれていたのだが、昨年ECM市場が４６.2％伸び率を示しているらしい。

個人的には、会社でシェアポイントを利用しているが、間違えなく便利なツールである。　ただ、記事に書かれている「必要な機能をすべて備えたＥＣＭソフト」という印象を受けない。どっちかというと、社内ポータルようなものである。　とはいえ、相変わらずマイクロソフトの強みを活かせるソフトであり、エクスチェーンジとのインターグレーションが非常に便利だ。

僕が単純に自分が昨年に入社した会社が日本市場で大手企業と並べるようになっている。　希望としては、マーケットシェア拡大になり、それに伴ってプロジェクトマネジメント案件を受注。　そうすると、僕が担当になり、日本へいける！　それだけだ。
