Migrate Byteflow to GAE

I'm wonder whether it's easier to migrate byteflow to gae, or build from scratch. I like byteflow but I'm thinking it's not an easy port....

Speaking of Which

Yesterday, I posted about City Websites. Today, it's about this website. As some of you have noticed, I brought down my Planets, Planet NEO and Neohawk IT. I did this mostly for time and money reasons. The server they are running on is memory challenged and Planet NEO in particular was getting very large, memory consumption wise. It had over 50,000 posts archived. So it kept crashing, and I was spending more time trying to keep it up than I want.

City Websites

Jill over at WLST put up a screenshot of Pepper Pike's new website. She also links to various city websites, mostly on the east side of Cleveland, but a couple of on the west side as well. Jill enthusiastically says:

Techmeme: How Google Decides to Pull the Plug (Vindu Goel/New York Times)

I saw this article yesterday.

Vindu Goel / New York Times:

How Google Decides to Pull the Plug — GOOGLE recently set the blogosphere abuzz by announcing that it was pulling the plug on several products. — The victims included Lively, a virtual world that was Google's answer to Second Life; Dodgeball, a cellphone service aimed at young bar-hoppers …

It's where I found out that Google is pulling the plug on Notebooks. This ties into a post or two that have been in my head for a while. Posting this as a test of Flock's ability to post to blogger, but also as a reminder for when I finally write those posts.

Balmy Weather

Today, while it is cloudy, is amazingly warm. It's like 52 degrees out. Just a few days ago it was close to zero. But alas, that won't really change my plans for the day. About to head out for a work out and some racquetball with my son, Ken.

Spent most of the day trying to catch up on personal email. Over 1000 messages, though the vast majority of spam. I did find a cool vid clip via NOOSS that I posted to my neohawk.info blog. I really need to catch up on some other things, like figuring out how to migrate JANO's site to google. It's currently a django-based system, but pre 1.0 with some of my own poor code.....

So as much as I want to head outdoors, it'll probably have to wait until tomorrow....
